grey + gold

I have been trying to find the perfect color to offset some of the wonderful gold that I found for our main living area (living, dining, kitchen). I've always been a brown girl, but suddenly grey seems to be the color that is calling my name. I have avoided it because it always seemed so cold. I am learning that their are warm greys, with more of a brown or orange tinge. I have several chips taped to my wall right now, but I wanted to see some of the combo in action. A little flickr search pulled up some fabulous options:

So, what do you think? I think I'm ready to pick up some new paint!

Love it! As evidenced by my kitchen. Are you thinking of painting your living room gray? That'd be lovely. I agree with the warm grays....the cool ones feel institutional. Yay I won your giveaway! Good to be back and I can't wait to get it in the mail tomorrow. xo

Hi! Well, I love grays, too. I haven't gone to the trouble of bringing them into the house, but I agree with you--with gold it's a great combination. Probably smart to paint some big swatches somewhere to see how the light affects them?

I've been leaning heavy for gray in my clothes the last couple years. Maybe because Missoula is gray so often in winter? :)

Thanks for the visit this week. Happy Friday.

dig: I totally forgot you had a grey and gold kitchen. I kept racking my brain trying to get a good visual of the combo, thus the post. Who knew I could have just come by for a cocktail!

mama k: You will have to come over for a beer to admire the final outcome!

sallymandy: I never thought of grey in the house, but I am really growing into the idea. the swatches help for sure. now if I could just get the painting done!
